Deer Growth Rate
While some of the species and sub-species vary with their size and growth rate, most fawns
are in the 5 pound range when they are born and trophy bucks can exceed 400 pounds.
Most mature bucks typically weigh 100 - 250 pounds depending on the species and does will
be smaller than the bucks. The different species will differ slightly, but most deer reach
maturity between 3 and 5 years. A buck may live for 10 years or more, but they rarely live
that long in heavily-hunted areas. Does can reach 20+ years.
