Deer Hunting Tips and Strategies
There are a couple of different ways to go about hunting a deer and many tips that will give
you a better chance for success. Hunting from a tree stand is the most popular way to go
deer hunting. The key to hunting from a tree stand is to set it up in a high traffic area.
Your greatest chances are to set up your tree stand near the most recently used trails and
the areas that will have food during the hunting season. Deer will use trails to move
between their bedding and feeding areas.
Here are some various tips for deer hunting.
- Go scouting. From early to late summer, go out and do your research. Find the most
recently used deer trails. Look for the food source that will be available during the
hunting season. Most deer are shot downwind of their food source.
- When scouting, make sure you are just as careful now as you are when you actually go
hunting. Mask your scent, find the trails but don't walk through them, stay downwind of
any feeding or sleeping spots and set up your tree stands during the pre-season.
- Use GPS to mark your spots.
