Ft. Thomas held its first council meeting Monday night since enacting the bow hunting ordinance in December. Supporters say the huge populations are a danger to traffic, and the competition for food is making many deer unhealthy.

An illegal deer harvesting camp has been uncovered along the Pearl River south of Jackson and now, several people are under arrest.
The bust by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks actually occurred December 30th, following a three-year undercover investigation. The hunting camp was on the Hinds County side of the river, between Byram and Jackson.

Just before the hard freeze of this past week, the duck hunting in the creeks of the area marshes was terrific.
Now that the smaller areas are frozen, look for the birds to start congregating where they can find open water. The Essex and Ipswich marshes are full of black ducks and still hold quite a few mallards. Even a few pintails are around.

Dallas’ biggest hunting show opens today at Market Hall and continues through Sunday. The Dallas Safari Club’s Convention and Sporting Expo has grown so big that the show, traditionally held over three days, has been expanded to four this year.
